Hello Butterflies and Dragonflies!

Welcome to Reception!

We can't wait to meet you all very soon and get to know you! We are also looking forward to showing you your new classroom and outdoor area!

Parents/Carers: Don't forget to order your child's school uniform from the Goodies website before the end of July.

Please also bring in any 'All About Me' sheets and other forms you have at home.

Don't forget to check the letter that was sent to you for their settling in session times.

Christmas Nativity

Our Christmas Play, 'A Wiggly Nativity' is on Wednesday 13th December at 9:15am.

Inspire Workshop

Thank you to all those that attended our Inspire workshop. We have attached the PowerPoint from our session and some handouts. If you have any questions please feel free to ask the class teachers.

Reception Uniform

Butterflies and Dragonflies will have PE on Tuesday. Send your child to school in their PE kit each Tuesday. Please ensure your child has PE shoes without laces and no jewellery.

Phonics

Our phonics scheme is Little Wandle. We will be learning our phase 2 sounds over the Autumn term.

Here is a copy of the sound mats we will be using in class.

We will be practicing forming our letters using these letter jingles:

Starter, Rainbow and Rocket Words

To help the children learn to read we have a set of Starter Words which they start learning from sight. Please learn a line at a time. Once you have learnt the line you are on please let the class teacher know.

Who can learn all their starter words?

Once your child has learnt these they will then move onto the Rainbow and Rocket words. These are all the tricky words taught in phase 2 and 3. Please learn these a line at a time. Once you have learnt the line you are on please let the class teacher know.

Previously to celebrate Black History Month we read the book, 'Big Hair, Don't Care'. The children talked about their similarities and differences. We looked at photographs of Wilfried Zaha and the different hairstyles that he has had over the years. The children thought of questions that they would like to ask him, we sent him a video and he replied!
