Every day at Nursery

The children sign themselves in by taking their bug name and putting it on the door. Please teach your child to recognise their own name. Look carefully at the first letter and then go from there! Remember to make it fun!

Nursery Learning

In Nursery, we follow the children's interests in order to keep high levels of motivation to learn. This could be based around all sorts of different themes, from princesses and superheroes to dinosaurs... Even Bluey and Paw Patrol! We plan activities and provision of resources around these themes so that the children can learn about all areas of the EYFS curriculum through their play. These curriculum areas are:

We plan daily so that we can build on things that the children have been particularly interested in and follow their ideas. It also means that we can work on any areas that we have noticed the children are finding tricky.

What are we interested in right now?

This half term, our learning will be filled with colour, excitement and celebrations as our theme is 'Let's Celebrate'! We will explore a variety of festivals and traditions including, Diwali, Bonfire Night and Christmas, learning about the different ways families and communities celebrate. Through creative activities, cooking and storytelling, we will discover new experiences and get a deeper understanding of our wonderfully diverse nursery.

Our stories will include 'The Gruffalo' where we will venture into our local community on our trip, helping children develop their confidence, curiosity and awareness of the world around them.

As the weather gets colder we will continue to encourage independence, supporting children to put on their own coats, practise fastening zips and take greater responsibility for their belongings.

As we start phonics, we will begin to introduce letter sounds whilst continuing to develop our listening and sound awareness skills. In Maths, we will deepen our understanding of numbers through practical and playful experiences.

Nursery Home Learning

Nursery Home Learning is to read with your child every day and write in their Reading Record Book. We will read with your child every other week at Nursery and give them a Next Step to work on - please work on this with your child when you read with them. They will borrow 1 book a week from Nursery but you can read other books you have at home too. Please bring their Reading Record Book to Nursery every day. Ladybirds’ books will be changed on a Wednesday. Bumblebees’ and Fireflies' books will be changed on a Friday.

You will also have shared with you our Concept Cat 'Word of the Week' as well as an activity you can complete together!

Lastly, a Home Learning sheet will be sent home each week with activity ideas to explore at home together. We'd love you to share photos or videos of these on Evidence Me.

Books we have shared together

Nursery Notices

Please ensure your child has some spare clothes on their peg at all times.

Please ensure your child has a pair of welly boots at Nursery.
Please remember that children should not wear jewellery to Nursery, especially hoop earrings, and toys should stay at home.
Please avoid shoes with laces if your child cannot tie them independently.
If you have any unwanted clothes or toys, we would love to use them at Nursery so please bring them in.
